Cypress/Tupelo Swamp is an important part of the ecosystem in Louisiana.  It filters contaminants including sedimentation, serves as a home and habitat to many unique species of wildlife, and is an important source of wood for the timber industry.
Here is a nice picture of the Louisiana Swamp adjacent to Bayou Nezpique in Jefferson Davis Parish.

This is a photo of clean water after being filtered by the swamp.  This land is vital to clean water entering our waterways.

Beaver problems are becoming an important issue in Southern Louisiana.  Dams created by these creatures are creating flood hazards to crops and homes.  This tree is being harvested by beavers to add to a dam.

These 2 pictures are photos of some of the damage from Hurricane Lili.  This drainage ditch is being obstructed by downed trees creating a flood hazard and will be cleared using EMERGENCY WATERSHED PROTECTION PROGRAM (EWP) funds.

Check back often as pictures will be updated periodically.
